Investigation launched after body found in Sutton Park

Police have launched a major investigation after a body was found in Sutton Coldfield.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Hartopp Gate in Sutton park around 4.45pm on Sunday June 3.

A body was discovered close to a rail bridge in the area next to tracks of the freight line.

More than 5,500 runners passed the area where the body was found just hours earlier for the Great Midlands Fun Run.

The ambulance service was called but the person was declared dead at the scene.

British Transport Police are leading the operation and say they are currently treating the death as ‘unexplained’.

The man’s family have been informed.
