John Askey appointed as Shrewsbury Town manager
John Askey has become Shrewsbury Town's new manager following the departure of Paul Hurst.
The 53-year-old has signed a three-year deal after agreeing a compensation deal with Macclesfield Town.
Askey has been with Macclesfield since 1984, first as a player and then as Youth Team Manager, Assistant Manager, and twice as the First-Team Manager. His second-spell in charge with Macclesfield started in 2013 and he has taken charge of over 250 games since then.
Shrewsbury missed out on promotion to the Championship after defeat in the League One play-off final at Wembley.
