Child killer Colin Pitchfork is denied parole
A double killer, who was jailed for raping and murdering two Leicestershire schoolgirls, has been refused parole.
Colin Pitchfork killed two 15-year-olds in the 1980s and was the first person to be convicted using DNA evidence.
The 56-year-old was given a life sentence in 1988 for raping and murdering Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth.
The Parole Board has said: “We can confirm that a panel of the Board has not directed the release of Mr Colin Pitchfork.
"Under current legislation Mr Pitchfork will be eligible for a further review within two years. The date of the next review will be set by the Ministry of Justice.”
Pitchfork has 28 days to appeal against the refusal.
