RSPCA condemn airgun attacks after three geese shot and killed in Walsall
The RSPCA has condemned the use of airguns after three geese were shot and killed in Walsall.
The charity was contacted after a woman found a collapsed goose on Wolverhampton Street.
Cara Gibbon, an animal collection officer, attended the scene.
The surviving goose was taken to the vets for emergency treatment, but sadly died from her injuries.
Airguns work by firing pellets using compressed air.
The RSPCA received 884 calls related to airgun attacks on animals in 2017.
The charity has now launched an investigation and is appealing for any information.
It is an offence under the Wildlife & Countryside Act to intentionally injure, kill or take a wild bird without a licence.
Anyone found guilty could face an unlimited fine and / or six months imprisonment.
