Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid is named as new UK Home Secretary after Amber Rudd resigns
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid has been announced as the new Home Secretary after Amber Rudd's resignation.
He has been the Communities Secretary since 2016 and oversaw the response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
The 48-year-old is the son of a Pakistani bus driver whose family came to the UK in the 1960s.
He is the first Home Secretary from an ethnic minority background.
Ms Rudd quit late on Sunday night after admitting she had "inadvertently misled" MPs on targets for the removal of immigrants.
