Special edition postbox for Shakespeare's birthday
A special edition Royal Mail postbox is now in the heart of William Shakespeare's birthplace as part of birthday celebrations for the world's greatest playwright. Royal Mail has commissioned the postbox in Stratford-Upon-Avon, and it is covered in iconic quotes from the Bard's world-famous works.
This weekend hundreds of people will help fill the streets of Stratford for an annual celebration to mark the Bard's birthday, with many events planned.
Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 1564. The exact date of his birth is not recorded, but it's most often celebrated around the world on the 23rd April.
Karen Fishwick and Bally Gill, the lead actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s latest production of "Romeo & Juliet", which premieres this weekend, have been spotted at the postbox.
The box is located at 21 High Street in Stratford, and will remain there for the next month. It contains quotes from Shakespeare's works that include:
Twelth Night
Much Ado About Nothing
Romeo and Juliet
A Midsummer Night's Dream
