Family's plea over traps in gardens after cat seriously injured

A family from Leicestershire say they've been left traumatised after their cat was seriously injured after being caught in a trap.
They found their cat Belle in the garden with a metal trap attached to her paw. She had to be taken to the vet for treatment costing hundreds of pounds.
These sorts of traps are used to control pests legally - but have to be set in a specific way to avoid breaking the law and to prevent domestic animals from being caught in them.
Belle's owners have urged people to be more careful about using traps to prevent animals from being hurt unnecessarily.

The RSPCA have experienced multiple cases of pets being caught in these traps and told ITV News Central that they've urged people to take care when using them.
