Inquest resumes into death of Owen 'hero' Jenkins
An inquest into the death of a boy, 12, who died in a Nottinghamshire river last summer is due to resume today.
Owen Jenkins's body was found near Beeston Weir in the River Trent on 10 July 2017.
His friends and family say he went into the water to rescue two girls. The girls survived but Owen drowned.
He has been widely honoured as a 'hero' with posthumous accolades and tributes in his home town of Beeston.
The spot where he died has now been renamed "Owen's Place".
Shops and homes in the area have sported purple ribbons in his honour as it was Owen's favourite colour.
Last month, his family were asked to switch on the Christmas lights in Beeston.
