Alton Towers unveils new wooden rollercoaster
Alton Towers has unveiled a new wooden rollercoaster which 'bursts into flames'.
The ride, called Wicker Man, is the first wooden rollercoaster to be built in the UK for 21 years.
The £16 million rollercoaster will open in Spring and a 57.5 ft 'Wicker Man' appears to burst into flames as riders race through the structure.
ITV News Central has exclusive access to the ride in November, when it was only known as 'Secret Weapon 8'.
It's been two years in the making, and is built on the site of the old log flume.
Bradley Wynne, the theme park's creative lead said:
Alton Towers said 'the safety of guests has been paramount' in building the ride, which has involved 'rigorous testing and hundreds of training hours for ride operators'.
The theme park will open in March after being closed over the winter break.
