Nottinghamshire Police investigated by IPCC after detained man dies

Nottinghamshire Police has referred itself to the the Independent Police Complaints Commission after a man died while in custody.

Police were called on Friday night to the Carlton area after reports of a road traffic collision.

A man from Carlton was detained and as he was being transferred to a custody suite, he became unwell. He was taken to Nottingham’s Queens Medical Centre in an ambulance, but died.

IPCC investigators have attended the scene of the incident and the post incident procedures.

It's not believed that a police chase took place.

The road closures today in the Southdale Road and Carlton Hill area are expected to be removed shortly.
