Elderly couple heartbroken as £6,000 of jewellery stolen

An elderly couple say they will never be the same again after thieves ransacked their home and stole £6,000 of jewellery.

Kathleen, 69, and Keith Reid, 72, discovered their home in Lister Road, Atherstone had been broken into on Friday afternoon.

Their belongings had been strewn all over the house after the offenders allegedly used a spade to smash their way in.

The thieves are believed to have searched their house from top to bottom looking for precious items to steal.

The patio doors at the back of their house were smashed open and a spade taken from the couple’s garden shed was lying on the kitchen side.

Earrings, bracelets, a gold and ruby ring, a Chamilia Charm bracelet and other precious items were all missing.
