Man arrested after police station and cars sprayed with petrol

A man has been arrested after police cars and a police station in Staffordshire were squirted with petrol.

Officers working inside the station in Rugeley on Christmas Daybecame suspicious when they smelled petrol outside at around 5.30am.They went outside and spotted a person, who had the hood of their black, plastic jacket up, dousing the marked police cars and the floor in thefront of the station with fuel from a washing-up liquid bottle. The suspect fled the scene before being caught.

A 42-year-old man from the town has been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson with intent to endanger life.
