Feeling the festive hangover ? Experts at Loughborough University have recreated a 400-year old recipe for a potential remedy.

Not for the faint-hearted though - the ancient recipe for so-called surfeit water includes the contents of a sperm whale's guts.

Dr Sara Read, an expert on early modern literature and medicine has adapted the recipe as part of the university's Christmas and New Year health and well-being campaign, which is aimed at providing advice about physical and mental wellness over the festive season.
