Cow attacks woman after dog off its lead in field

A woman was attacked by a highland cow after a dog had been off its lead in the herd's field.

She was airlifted to hospital after suffering facial and kick injuries - and it appears the dog wasn't hers.

A police spokesman said the incident happened in the Bamford Edge area, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, at about 1pm yesterday.

He said the woman was helped by East Midlands Ambulance Service and mountain rescue and is thought to have been taken to Sheffield's Northern General Hospital.
