Adam Peaty has been named Athlete of the Year at the British Swimming Awards.

The world record holder from Uttoxeter in Staffordshire was given his award at an event on Saturday night.

The Loughborough-trained breaststroke competitor was up against Paralympic swimmer Andy Mullen, and diver, Tom Daley.

Voting was open to the public, and was held over five days last month.

The Olympic champion was also recently honoured with an MBE after breaking his own world record in the 100 metre breaststroke in Rio last year.
