Weekend weather: Yellow warning of wind issued for the Midlands

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind for parts of the East and West Midlands on Saturday as Storm Brian sweeps across the UK.

Gusts up to 70mph are expected to move through southern coastal areas from the early hours, slowly making their way north.

For our area, there could be some transport disruption, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.

Short term loss of power and other services is also possible, as well as damage to trees. The warning has been issued from 4am to midnight (21 October).

These are the areas which could be affected in the East Midlands:

  • Leicester

  • Leicestershire

  • Northamptonshire

  • Rutland

These are the areas which could be affected in the West Midlands:

  • Herefordshire

  • Warwickshire

  • West Midlands

  • Worcestershire

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Windy again on Sunday with sunny intervals and blustery showers, mainly in the west. Rain at times on Monday, and probably Tuesday too though it will be less windy.
