Diwali celebrations take place across the region

Diwali celebrations have been getting underway up and down the region this weekend.

People gathered in Nottingham's Old Market Square to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights.

There was music, poetry and the opportunity to 'make a wish, light a lamp'.

Meanwhile as Northampton entered its 11th day of celebrations, there was henna painting and saree dressing.

Meanwhile in Rugby, a Diwali 'Extravanganza Charity Show' is being held at its Indian Community Centre.

The event that is being hosted by Emmerdale actor Bhasker Patel, will see all of the proceeds raised going towards a vein viewer on the cancer ward at the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
