Leicester Diwali Lights - What you need to know.

Diwali lights switch on Credit: ITV Central

  • 7:30pm - Leicester's famous Diwali lights will be switched on lighting up the city's Golden Mile.

  • Switch on will be followed by a fireworks display

  • The Wheel of Light and Diwali Village will be back

  • Start of two weeks of celebrations and festivities

  • 40,000 people from across the country expected

  • Events start from 3pm at the Diwali Village including fun-fair rides, a wide range of stalls, and entertainment including fire-eaters and circus skills acts.

  • Performances from artists including Akademi

  • An Indian Summer's presentation of The Story of Light, performed by Metro-Boulot-Dodo and Nupur Arts
