Teenager arrested in connection with murder of elderly woman released

A teenager arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender following the death of woman in a Leicestershire village has been released.

The victim, 72-year-old Jane Hings, was found dead at her bungalow in Elizabeth Road in Fleckney on Sunday morning (24 September), shortly after 8am.

A post-mortem examination has so far failed to identify her cause of death and the results of further medical and forensic tests are awaited.

A 25-year-old man arrested in connection with her death on Tuesday (26 September) remains in custody on suspicion of murder after magistrates granted detectives further time to question the suspect.

Detectives investigating the incident arrested a 15-year-old boy yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has since been released from custody with no further action to be taken.
