MP: Mum hasn't had her bins collected for six weeks

An MP states her mother has not had her bins collected for 6 weeks, a day after the MP helped write an open letter of dismay to the council.

MP Preet Gill took to Twitter to highlight the issue that the bin strikes have had across Birmingham since they started in July.

She claims her mother's house in Harbone, has not had its rubbish collected for six weeks.

The Labour MP, who represents the Edgbaston area of the city in the House of Commons, was one of the nine Labour MPs to write an open letter of dismay to Birmingham City Council regarding the situation.

The letter described the Labour council as an "obstacle to moving forward" regarding the bin strike issue being resolved.

The MPs claimed in the letter that the strikes are having a "devastating impact on the streets of Birmingham."
