Retford crash cyclist says it could have been avoided
The cyclist who was hospitalised in the crash at Retford involving a parked car, said the incident could have been avoided.
Brent Bookwalter crashed into the parked car after taking a tight turn in stage four of the Tour of Britain in Retford, Nottinghamshire, which left the windscreen of the car smashed.
The American cyclist announced on Instagram that he was "very disappointed to abandon the race, especially from an incident that likely could have been avoided with more pro active safety measures."
The BMC rider said he is now focusing on his recovery and letting his "body and head heal."
