Fire breaks out at HMP Featherstone in Staffordshire

A fire has broken out at HMP Featherstone in Staffordshire amidst reports of "an ongoing incident".

ITV News Central has received a call from a person claiming to be a relative of an inmate, who described the scene as a "riot".

The Ministry of Justice confirmed that "a small number of prisoners" are involved.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the prison shortly after 8pm this evening.

They have confirmed that one fire engine is at the scene with six crew members and an officer.
