Man sells medals to raise money for girl with cancer he's never met

A former Royal Marine is selling three of his service medals to help fund a four-year-old's £200,000 cancer treatment - even though they had never met.

Matthew Goodman, from Cheltenham, who served in the 2003 Iraq conflict, has now listed three medals on eBay.

He decided to auction the medals for service in Afghanistan and Northern Ireland, as well as his Iraq campaign medal, after reading about Lottie Woods-John's battle with neuroblastoma on Instagram.

Lottie's parents are desperately fundraising to pay for an innovative vaccine treatment available in a US clinical trial.

During an interview on Good Morning Britain, Matthew explained what made him want to sell his medals, before meeting Lottie for the first time on live television.

Lottie's mother Charlotte Woods, says her illness started with a tummy bug, but when she didn't get better her doctor referred her to the hospital. When the results of her ultrasound scan came back, she wasn't able to go home for a month.

The three medal are on eBay at the moment and the auction ends tomorrow (25 August) around midnight.
