Man arrested after passenger in car being followed by police dies in crash

A man has been arrested after the death of a passenger in a car crash.

The car was being followed by a police officer along the A6 in Alvaston, at around 11:30pm on 21 August, when it the central reservation.

The passenger, 27-year-old Jacob Morton, died following the crash.

The driver was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a stable condition.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Derbyshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
