Passenger in car being pursued by police dies after crash

A man has died after the vehicle he was travelling in hit a central reservation in Derbyshire.

A car was being pursued by a police officer along the A6 in Alvaston at around 11:30pm last night (Monday, August 21) when the incident happened.

The deceased man was the passenger in the vehicle, said to be in his 20s.

The driver was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he remains in a stable condition.

Derbyshire Constabulary has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The A6 between Wisgreaves Road and Haig Street was closed while police carried out inquiries but has since re-opened.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire Police on 101 quoting incident 1071 of August 21.
