A pub where a man was stabbed to death after a brawl has lost its licence.

Daniel Baird was fatally stabbed at the Forge Tavern pub in Digbeth, Birmingham on 8 July after a fight reportedly involving 100 people.

Birmingham City Council initially suspended the pub's licence after a hearing requested by West Midlands Police days after the murder.

The same committee has now officially cancelled the licence following a full review.

In a hearing, members of the committee found that the Forge Tavern had breached a number of security and safety regulations.

These included:

  • The use of security staff who were not officially trained

  • The sale of alcohol after permitted hours

  • The failure of the pub owner to notify West Midlands Police about the event taking place
