Today is Oatcake day, here are a number of facts about the famous Staffordshire Oatcake.

• A Staffordshire Oatcake is a type of savoury pancake made from oatmeal, flour and yeast.

• They are normally referred to as 'Staffordshire' Oatcakes as they were made in and around north Staffordshire, specifically in Stoke-on-Trent.

• Staffordshire Oatcakes date back to at least the 18th century when the dish became the staple diet of people from the county.
