An investigation is underway after police were called to an alleged robbery at a post office in Stourport-On-Severn.

Police say that at around 12.20pm on Saturday 5 August, two men wearing balaclavas entered a Londis store on Areley Kings, where they reportedly stole cash.

It's said that local officers who were patrolling in the area at the time were at the scene within a minute of the incident being called.

A sledgehammer has since been recovered by investigating officers, which is thought to have been used in the reported incident.

At the time of the alleged robbery, the post office was open with a number of customers inside. Police say that nobody was injured.

Officers say that the offenders are believed to have left the area in a dark coloured saloon.

West Mercia Police are urging anyone who was in the area yesterday lunchtime that may have seen or heard anything in relation to the incident to contact them.
