A fertility clinic in Nottinghamshire says childless couples are still having to wait too long for IVF treatment because of a chronic shortage of egg donors.

Nurture Fertility, based in Sandiacre, treats around 60 patients a year with donated eggs, but says there may be three times as many who need their help.

Medical Director, Nick Raine-Fenning, says their couples typically wait six to nine months for treatment because there are not enough available eggs.

Nationally, the average figure is one to two years. If an IVF cycle is unsuccessful, the couple will go back to the bottom of the waiting list, and the whole process begins again.

The clinic is appealing to more women in the East Midlands to become egg donors to help more couples fulfil their dreams of parenthood.

She went for IVF at Nurture and became pregnant at the first time of asking after receiving a donor egg. In May last year, she gave birth to a baby girl, Evie.

Marisha says her life is now complete and says she is so grateful to the donor who made it possible.
