Five teenagers rescued after getting into difficulty in river

Five teenagers have been rescued after they got into difficulty whilst swimming in a river.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a location near Ross Rowing Club on Rope Walk, Ross-on-Wye just after 7.30pm yesterday (20 June) to reports of a drowning.

Ambulance staff were told the three got into difficulty in the River Wye but that bystanders had gone into the water and pulled them to safety.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

It was originally reported that three teenagers were involved in this incident.

West Midlands Ambulance Service have since confirmed five people were involved.
