With this weekend's hot weather, the Royal Life Saving Society is urging people across the Midlands to stay safe near open water.

The charity has launched its annual Drowning Prevention Week - a campaign designed to make people more aware of the dangers of water.

Michael Dunn, from the Royal Life Saving Society UK, said:

One person drowns every 20 hours in the UK and hundreds more suffer life changing injuries through near drowning.
