Calf rescued from canal embankment
Fire and Rescue Services saved a calf from falling into a canal in what was described as a 'difficult animal rescue'.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue were called to Caldon Canal, near Cheddleton Flint Mill yesterday (6 June 2017) after someone noticed a calf stuck between two trees on the embankment.
Four crews were sent to rescue the animal who were helped by members of the public who let the crew use their barges to reach the calf on the other side of the water.
A rope winch system was used to free the cow's legs which were stuck between the trees before an inflatable walkway was used to keep the animal afloat before making it onto dry land.
A Vet was there to check the cow who was uninjured.
