A woman, who was found seriously injured at a house in Derby in January, has died in hospital.

Police were called to a house in Avondale Road, Spondon, in the early hours of January 7, after receiving a report that a man and a woman were injured inside.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment and when the man, Paul Sherratt, was discharged, he was arrested and later charged with attempted murder. The 56-year-old remains in custody awaiting trial.

His wife, 60-year-old Jane Sherratt, was treated for severe head injuries but she died on Saturday (May 7).

The Crown Prosecution Service has been informed of Mrs Sherratt’s death so the charge can be reassessed.
