Andy Street: 'Success not equally shared'
The first Mayor for the West Midlands has been announced as the Conservative party candidate Andy Street.
The native Midlander who once headed up luxury high street retailer John Lewis will now be responsible for representing 2 million people across 7 local council areas, giving him the final say on issues like transport, house building, planning, adult skills and training and business growth.
He will now control a budget of £8 Billion over 30 years.
Throughout his campaign the 53-year-old promised to deliver a practical plan for 'restoring the leadership of the region' which he believes can be funded and will change peoples lives.
In addition to heading up big UK business, Banbury born Andy has also led the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership.
