Van driver who hit cyclist gives evidence

A van driver who hit a cyclist says he saw him just before he hit him.

Nigel Ingram 'moved over' to give Sam Boulton room and hoped he'd only run over his bike.

Speaking at the inquest into the 26-year-old's death, Mr Ingram said he heard the impact and was in shock.

Mandy Chappel, the passenger who opened the door that hit Sam Boulton, has also given evidence this morning.

She said she felt a bump on the door and didn't know what had happened, and then she saw Mr Boulton in the road.

In hindsight, she said, she would have got out of the other side of the taxi, not the roadside.
