Leicestershire Police staff rack up the running miles ahead of London marathon

Seven officers and staff from Leicestershire Police will have competed in 36 marathons between them when the compete in Sunday’s London Marathon.

Ranging from running veterans to marathon first timers - they will have ran a combined total of 943.2 marathon miles when they cross the finish line.

Whilst marathon first timer Amy Coombe is determined to take on the 26 mile challenge despite having to juggle training around caring for daughter.

Clocking up the most marathon miles is Phil Woods who will be competing in his 12th consecutive London Marathon.

PC Carl Sutherley is competing in his fourth marathon and PSCO Chris Thornton is running his second.

Inspector Ian Parker, will be running his sixth marathon, closely followed by his seventh, having also signed up to compete in the Edinburgh Marathon.

DCI Paul McKinder is running the marathon for the second time, hoping this year to beat his previous time of five hours.

This Sunday’s run will be DC Jim Willoughby's ninth marathon and his second time round the London course.
