A 17-year-old Formula 4 racing driver has had to have both his legs amputated after a "horrific" crash at Donington Park on Sunday (16 April).

Billy Monger crashed heavily in the sixth round of the F4 British Championship at the Leicestershire circuit, and was airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after a lengthy extraction procedure.

Another driver involved in the incident, Patrik Pasma, was also airlifted to hospital but released on Monday after being observed overnight.

A JustGiving page has now been set up for Billy to help raise money to fund his treatment.

The fundraising page was set up by Billy's team manager Steven Hunter and racing driver Tom Ingram, with the aim of raising £260,000.
