Peter Goodman QPM is to be put forward as the preferred candidate to take over as Derbyshire’s next Chief Constable.

Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa has notified the Police and Crime Panel of his intentions, and a Confirmation Hearing has been arranged by the Panel, to be held on April 13 at County Hall, Matlock.

The news follows a robust recruitment process incorporating a stakeholder discussion, from which feedback was provided to the interview panel; media exercises; a presentation covering the key risks and threats to Derbyshire Constabulary prepared by the candidate; and a formal interview.

The search for a new Chief Constable follows the announcement that Chief Constable Mick Creedon is to retire in May this year.
