Labour MPs call for UK to take more Syrian refugees
A number of Midlands Labour MPs have joined calls for a Syrian no-fly zone enforced by the British navy, with strikes against planes dropping illegal weapons.
In a statement issued today the 20 Labour MPs also called on the government and other European countries to take their 'fair share of Syrian refugees'
Ruth Smeeth (Stoke-On-Trent North), Liz Kendall (Leicester West) and Chris Leslie (Nottingham East), backed the calls.
It follows a number of recent incidents including the alleged use of chemical weapons by Syrian government forces which sparked US airstrikes at an airbase in Homs earlier today.
