Route for Queen's visit announced
The parade route to be taken by Her Majesty The Queen on her visit to Leicester next week has been announced.
Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh are due to visit the city on Thursday, April 13, where they will attend the Royal Maundy Service at Leicester Cathedral.
The Queen's car will enter the city centre at Humberstone Gate, travelling past the Clock Tower and along High Street, with the parade ending appropriately at Jubilee Square.
Her Majesty will arrive at the cathedral for the 11am service, where she will be welcomed by the Dean, the Very Revd David Monteith, and the Bishop of Leicester, the Very Revd Martyn Snow.
Public viewing will be allowed along the entire convoy route through the city centre.
The Very Revd David Monteith said:
Her Majesty will observe the ancient tradition of handing out Maundy Money to a group of 91 men and 91 women from the local community of pensioners - the number representing her own age in years.
The Royal visit will be the first by the Queen since her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
