Man arrested in connection with fatal tram stop stabbing

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man at Soho Benson Road tram stop in Winson Green, Birmingham.

He is currently in police custody assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Police were called to the incident on Friday 31st March at around 4.30pm.

They arrived to find a man, who is said to be in his fifties, on a pathway leading from the Soho Benson Road tram stop. Detectives say the man had got off a tram alone before being attacked on the footpath.

The man hasn't yet been formally identified, but police are confident they know who he is.

The investigation continues as officers scour CCTV footage from the tram stop and the Benson Road area.
