Woman tried to murder sleeping boyfriend with sulphuric acid

A woman has been found guilty of trying to kill her partner by dousing him insulphuric acid whilst he slept.

A jury at Leicester Crown Court found Katie Leong, (52) guilty of theattempted murder of her boyfriend Daniel Rotariu (31)- sentencing her to life in prison.

The court heard that Leong and Rotariu lived in a shared house in Leicester and had been arguing on the evening of the attack.

On 27th July 2016, Rotariu then made his way to bed early before Leong entered the room at around 2am and poured sulphuric acid over the body of her sleeping partner.

Rotariu suffered horrific injuries including burns to 32% of his bodyand loss of sight in both his eyes.

He has spent 26 weeks in hospital undergoing life-saving treatment and will require medical help for many years to come.
