A man from Corby has narrowly missed out on a $1 million prize in a competition find the world's best teacher.

Ray Chambers, a computer science teacher at Brooke Weston Academy, was the only UK teacher to make it to the final ten in the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher prize.

He was put onto the shortlist after being selected from 20,000 applications, from 179 different countries, despite only deciding to become a teacher after a last-minute computer science placement.

He now boasts more than a quarter of a million views on his YouTube education channel.
