Two die in separate house fires in Leicestershire

A man and a woman have died in separate house fires in Leicestershire over the weekend.

A 72-year-old woman died at a property on Lambert Close in Melton Mowbray at around 8:10pm on Sunday night (19 March).

Two men, aged 70 and 32, were also taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Meanwhile, on the same evening, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were also called to a fire on Warwick Road in Wigston at 8.38pm.

A 51-year-old man was taken to hospital with severe burns and died.

The fires are not believed to be linked. The cause is under investigation but at this stage neither is believed to be suspicious.
