Man dies after six car pile-up

A man has died following a six-vehicle collision on the A1 at Newark.

Nottinghamshire Police were called at around 7.55am yesterday morning following reports of the incident on the northbound carriageway.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 52-year old man – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a lorry was taken to Nottingham’s Queens Medical Centre by air ambulance for treatment of minor injuries, a woman was also taken to hospital by ambulance.
