Twycross Zoo has announced that it will find a new home for its all-female herd of Asian elephants.

They say this will allow the animals to breed and help ensure the long-term survival of the endangered species.

Twycross Zoo is working in conjunction with European Endangered Species Breeding Programmes to arrange the transfer. They say timescales will be announced as the plans progress.

Asian elephants are endangered in the wild, where they are threatened by illegal hunting and habitat destruction.
