Storm Doris: Plane skids on landing at Birmingham Airport
There was a bumpy landing for passengers making their way in to Birmingham Airport this afternoon as the wet runway caused skidding. One ITV Central viewer sent us this footage from the safety of the viewing area, thank you to YouTube / Spotter_101 for the footage.
The disruption has continued for most of the day. Two people had a lucky escape after a tree crushed the roof of the car they were in on Coventry Road in Nuneaton this afternoon.
Unfortunately one person lost their life in Wolverhampton this afternoon in what emergency services have referred to as a 'weather related incident.' It's thought a piece of debris came off a store in the high street which hit a female shopper inflicting fatal injuries.
It comes as Storm Doris continues to batter much of the UK with wind gusts of over 95 MPH recorded in some parts.
An amber weather warning from the MET office remains in place across the region and is expected to be in force until at least 8pm.
