Dr Zulfiqar Ali, the Liberal Democrat candidate for Stoke Central answers five questions ahead of the by-election.

1. Who do you most admire?Nelson Mandela.

2. Where is your favourite place in Stoke-on-Trent and why?Hanley West/Shelton area as it is hub of education and business. I also represented this area as a City Councillor between 2008 to 2011 and learned community politics.

3. What would be your top priority if you win by-election?To campaign against hard Brexit which would lead to job losses in Stoke, to increase funding for the NHS and increase educational standards in state schools.

4.What is your favourite TV programme?Sky Sports!

5.What is your favourite song?.Bob Dylan – The Times they are a changin’
