Hundreds to protest over potential closure of Glenfield children's heart unit
A protest march and rally in support of the children's heart unit at Glenfield Hospital, which is threatened with closure, will take place today in Leicester today (Saturday 11th February.)
More than a thousand people are expected to take part and there will be a rally afterwards with talks from staffs, patients and their families.
The march leaves Victoria Park at noon and ends in Jubilee Square at around 12.45 pm
NHS England has proposed the ending of heart surgery at the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre in Glenfield Hospital, because they say it doesn't meet their targets.
So far 130,000 people have signed a petitionto save the service and it was handed into Parliament on Thursday.
Unite leader Len McCluskey, who will be speaking at the rally, has said the potential closure is a "national disgrace".
