Appeal after fight in town centre near swimming pool

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fight in Northampton town centre, which happened close to The Mounts swimming pool.

It happened in Upper Mounts some time between 11.40am and midday last Friday (January 27).

A woman and a man were walking away from the pool towards the Charles Bradlaugh pub in Earl Street when another man walked towards the couple and bumped into the woman, causing an argument to follow between the men.

Two men were then seen running down the street towards the swimming pool before a fight broke out near the traffic lights during which the victim was punched several times.

The offender is described as:

  • White, 6ft, with a medium build

  • Aged 30-35 with short, dark hair

  • Wearing a red coat with a fur hood

  • Marvel character jogging bottoms

  • Tattoo on his right upper arm

The victim is described as:

  • White, 5ft' 9in, with a medium build,

  • Balding hair and dark eyes

  • Aged 35-40

  • Wearing a dark-coloured coat, light coloured bottoms

  • Carrying a backpack.
